JUDGE GARRITY EDUCATION-RELATED DECISIONS AND ORDERS UNRELATED TO STUDENT ASSIGNMENTS AND TRANSPORTATION“ identifies ten areas of extensive education-related orders, most of which remained active and were further refined throughout the court’s eleven-year jurisdiction over the Boston Public Schools. Many of these refinements are also chronicled in this document.  

1-increasing black teachers and administrators throughout the system; 2-involving colleges, universities and businesses in curriculum improvements; 3-enhanced parental involvement in school racial issues and influencing decision-making; 

4-expanded examination school access; 5-physical facility improvements in specific schools and the Unified Facilities Plan; 6-South Boston High School educational quality; 7-bilingual education; 8-special education;  9-vocational education; and 

10-student discipline monitoring.
